At the time of writing this, Italy is not considered a high-risk area for Covid-19, and you can travel here without the need for quarantine on either side from most destinations.
For those travelling from the UK - Italy is currently exempt from the UK government's advice against all non-essential international travel. Keep an eye on the latest advice here.
How many coronavirus cases are there in Italy?
There have been 287,753 coronavirus cases to-date, and 35,610 deaths recorded in Italy according to the WHO, and new cases ranged from 1000-1500 a day over the last week (Sept 2020). Compare this with 368,508 total cases reported in the UK, 41,628 deaths, and new cases even reaching beyond 3,000 a day this week.
We're located within the Lombardy region in Italy. Despite being badly hit at the start of the crisis, the area has bounced back, and there are now very few cases. Check the latest figures via the WHO here.
Our coronavirus cancellation policy
In these unprecedented times, we understand that government advice may change suddenly at any time. Please be aware that if restrictions on international travel change and make travel to the villa impossible, we will be happy to refund you in full.
Safety measures at Villa Lago Maggiore
We have always taken cleanliness very seriously at the Villa, but have introduced some additional measures to ensure your safety during your visit.
Our Covid-19 safety measures
Deep cleaning using appropriate chemicals in order to eliminate the possibility of transmission of Covid-19
Hand sanitiser is available at the property
Pool chemical levels are checked daily and the pool is cleaned
Bedsheets and towels are cleaned at high temperature
Our recent family visit to the villa
To oversee some property renovations and enjoy a short break, in August, my family and I flew from London to Milan Airport and drove to the Villa. While it's important to travel with caution, and follow all guidelines, I can say that there are some huge draws for travel at this time. We experienced:
Less crowds at both airports
No delays
An overall pleasant experience
We were able to enjoy our stay as usual and felt safe the entire time. There are of course risks involved, so please always follow your government guidelines and stay safe.
Will my visit be impacted?
Cafes, bars, shops and restaurants have now reopened in Arolo, Leggiuno. Most tourist activities have also now resumed - check the official Lake Maggiore tourism association for full details.
Provided you bring masks and hand sanitiser and follow social distancing rules, you should be able to enjoy your holiday fairly normally!
Please reach out if you require further information during this time and we will be more than happy to advise.
Stay safe & well in these difficult times.
